This project makes the most of every square foot, using a series of carefully considered interventions to better suit modern family life. At ground floor, a modest extension creates a generous kitchen and dining space while cleverly making the garden feel larger than it is.
The defining move is a fully glazed, splayed wall that opens gently towards the garden. Rather than simply extending the existing footprint, the angled geometry draws the eye outward, creating a stronger connection between house and landscape. Timber-framed doors fold completely away, allowing the dining space to open directly onto the garden — ideal for long summer evenings and gatherings with friends.
Elsewhere, the plan was reworked to introduce an en-suite, home office and refreshed family bathroom. Above, a loft conversion transforms previously underused space into a generous master suite, complete with dressing room and private en-suite.
The result is a more spacious, connected home, achieved through thoughtful planning rather than simply adding more square metres.
