Feasibility

We were very excited for the opportunity to work with the Chester Football Club to help realise their ambition for a new fan-zone.

Unlike most football clubs, Chester FC is owned and operated by its supporters.  They identified that the club’s current food & beverage offer (a number of small kiosks dotted around the ground) was hindering the clubs ability to give good service, and with the club being located on the outskirts of Chester, sitting astride the English/Welsh border, gave fans little to look forward to when arriving at the stadium.

The aspiration is to create a destination for pre-game food, drinks and entertainment.

Working with Common Practice, we identified other opportunities for the fan zone, including creating a destination which could enable other events, e.g. food and drink festivals, music festivals, or a spectator park.

Phase 1. Create a modest food & drink offer constructed using refurbished shipping containers.
Phase 2. Connect the Main stand to the fan zone and install a new lightweight polycarbonate roof for an all-weather solution.
Phase 3. Extend to increase capacity and improve visibility and way-finding, making this a unique destination.
The new venue would be able to be used to as a spectator park for international events, such as the World Cup.
It could help the club accommodate larger events which would generate additional revenue for the club, such as music festivals.
