Unlike most football clubs, Chester FC is owned and operated by its supporters, and has a real community-feel about the Club. So naturally we were delighted when we were asked to look at designing a new fanzone for them.
Rather than treating the brief as a one-off development, we explored how the works could be phased over time. The first stage could establish the core fan zone, with later phases building towards a more ambitious destination that could generate income throughout the year.
That could mean concerts and live music, pop-up markets, events and other uses that bring people to the site when there isn’t a match on.
The idea was simple: make the most of what the club already has, build up investment gradually, and create something that works a bit harder for the club and its supporters.
