For this young family, the priority was a spacious, well-lit, and sociable home that could easily accommodate friends and family. Their strong interest in marrying playful design with sustainable, low-carbon construction meant this project was a great fit for us.

The extension's design draws inspiration from the original Arts & Crafts home, incorporating arched doorways, geometric patterns, and detailed brickwork. These elements blend into a modern interpretation at the back of the house. The design is intentionally asymmetrical, presenting a playful façade that seems to "wink" at the neighbouring allotments.

Constructed from a part-timber, part-steel frame, the new parts of the house are highly insulated and sealed with vapor control layers and breathable membranes, ensuring outstanding energy efficiency. Solar panels and an air-source heat-pump have been added to minimise fossil fuel dependence and lower the build's long-term carbon footprint.

The result is a vibrant, inviting home that is cozy, energy-efficient, and ideal for both family life and social gatherings. It's a delight to see our clients enjoying their new space.
