Reimagining the Victorian terrace.

A challenging site from our friends at AMNWEB. This development is for housing on a small plot of land on a heavily overlooked sloping site.

Context and overlooking were key considerations in the first stage of feasibility on this site. Options were explored for various housing and massing types with insights from local agents.

We enjoyed tackling a tight site layout and designing under the constraints of a small building footprint within close proximity to boundaries and other dwellings.

Design cues were taken from the Victorian proportions and rhythm of the window openings of the adjacent terraces. Attention to the detailing of the traditional red brick ties these new terraces to its surroundings whilst giving them a contemporary edge.

Thoughtful use of storage, slatted walls and flexible sliding partitions enabled us to maximise the accommodation to create bright and open spaces appealing to young professionals and families looking for a starter home.
