Careful consideration was needed to re-model this mid-century infill house which was of limited architectural value and was nestled amongst some big-hitting 1930’s dutch barn typologies.
Use of natural materials such as zinc and Scottish larch complimented the existing brickwork. new clay mix tiles were proposed to replace the existing concrete roof tiles to bring together the warm tones of the material palette.
Modest extensions to the front porch, rear elevation and loft were proposed to enable the works to be phased to suit the family’s budget and minimize disruption. Moving out during construction was not an option for them.
